Sustainability
– At Lidan Designs, sustainability is not just a goal — it’s a guiding principle that influences every aspect of our work. We’re committed to creating high-quality, eco-friendly buildings that contribute to a more sustainable future. From advanced construction methods to responsible material sourcing, we ensure each project minimizes environmental impact while maximizing efficiency
Designing for the Future
Sustainable modular building experts
Efficiency and Precision in Construction
By completing 92% of our construction work in a controlled factory setting, we significantly reduce waste and improve resource efficiency. This approach not only ensures higher quality but also minimizes the environmental footprint compared to traditional onsite construction, where 100% of the work is typically done. Our method reduces emissions and onsite disturbances, contributing to a more sustainable construction process
Sustainably Sourced Timber
All our timber is FSC-certified, ensuring that it is sourced from responsibly managed forests. This certification guarantees that the materials used in our buildings are harvested in ways that preserve the biodiversity and integrity of the ecosystem, supporting forest conservation efforts globally
Innovative Timber Solutions
Our use of Glulam, Mass Timber, and CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) provides strength, flexibility, and sustainability. These materials are at the forefront of eco-friendly construction, offering an alternative to traditional materials like steel and concrete. By utilizing these advanced technologies, we are able to construct durable and aesthetically pleasing buildings that have a reduced carbon footprint
Comprehensive Lifecycle Analysis
We perform detailed Lifecycle Assessments (LCA) to evaluate the environmental impact of our materials and processes from production to end-of-life. This helps us continuously improve our practices, reduce waste, and ensure our buildings are sustainable throughout their entire lifecycle
Setting the Standard in Energy Efficiency
Our buildings are designed to achieve A-rated BER (Building Energy Rating) levels, indicating top-tier energy performance. This ensures lower energy consumption, reduced costs for occupants, and a significant decrease in carbon emissions, making our buildings not only cost-effective but also environmentally responsible.
Exceeding Industry Standards
We prioritize airtightness and insulation, with air leakage rates of just 0.6 ACH (Air Changes per Hour) compared to the standard 3.0 under Part L of the Building Regulations. Our buildings also feature U-values that are well above the norm, ensuring excellent thermal performance and reduced energy consumption
Leading in Low Carbon Construction
We’re committed to minimizing embodied carbon—the carbon footprint of building materials and construction processes. Our current level of 247 kg CO2e per square meter is significantly below the 2030 target of 625 kg CO2e, demonstrating our leadership in sustainable construction
Exemplifying Energy Efficiency
We adhere to Passive House standards, ensuring that our buildings use minimal energy for heating and cooling while maintaining superior indoor air quality. Our commitment to these standards has been recognized in multiple industry publications, highlighting our leadership in sustainable design
Building a Sustainable Future
From innovative materials to advanced building practices, every aspect of our work is designed to create high-quality, environmentally friendly buildings. Our commitment to sustainability ensures that we not only meet but exceed current environmental standards, paving the way for a greener future
Eco-Friendly and Durable Cladding Solutions
Our use of charred larch and cedar render offers a sustainable, durable, and aesthetically pleasing cladding option. The charring process enhances the wood’s resistance to weather and fire, while cedar’s natural resilience reduces the need for maintenance and chemical treatments
Minimizing Waste, Maximizing Sustainability
Through precise offsite manufacturing and dedicated recycling efforts, we minimize waste throughout the construction process. Our goal is to move towards zero-waste construction, ensuring that every project we complete leaves a smaller environmental footprint
